Remember the good ole days when you could write an email, press "send" and your prospects and customers would open the email and actually read it?
Unfortunately, times changed and email open rates slowly decreased, click rates followed suit and marketers and business owners alike began to panic with statements like, "Is email dead"?
Hint: Email is not dead.
Then the knight in glorious shining armor came to our rescue. Oh the coveted emoji. That silly little image that boosted open rates from the frightening decline back up to an average 26% increase in email opens. That was our saving grace and marketers and business owners alike sighed in relief.
Tip: I previously wrote an incredibly popular blog training on how to add emojis to your email subject lines. It works for all email systems except for Hubspot which already has this feature built right in. If you don't have Hubspot but want to add emojis into your email subject lines, check this free training out here.
But, like all good stories, we know all good things must come to an end and emojis too began to become more and more commonplace.
So, where do we go from here? What's the new sexy thing to do that actually works?!
That's precisely what I'm going to cover today and, my fellow smart marketers and business owners, we shall all have a proven plan in place by the end of this blog training. Buckle in because I'm going to be doing my best to deliver some marketing firepower for you!
First things first. Let's get some basics down.
Email still works. Albeit it is harder to get people to take action, it's still the highest converting communication media hands down. There is nothing that performs better when it is done right.
Emojis work too but getting someone to open an email and then have your email copy fall flat or require them - dare I say - read more than a few sentences is asking too much nowadays.
Tip: If you struggle with copywriting you are not alone. Many businesses find creating great copy that converts nearly impossible to write. We can help! If you'd like our award-winning agency to write copy for you, please schedule your free strategic consult by clicking this link and you'll have copy that converts in no time.
Video to the rescue!
People love video. Look at the astonishing rate of YouTube and Vimeo consumption and you'll see the same indications across the world - people love video and prefer it over text.
The million-dollar question is how do you get videos embedded in your emails?
I have done a lot of research in my agency looking at the various tools and methods and have found something that's super easy, it works and it's incredibly affordable.

Step-By-Step Guide: Embedding Video In Emails.
1.
You're first going to grab your free trial of my personal favorite video tool named Dubb which you can get by clicking this link.
2.
After you've signed up for the Dubb free trial, you'll want to make sure you have a way to send the awesome video I'm going to have you create to your prospects and customers. I strongly recommend one of the following platforms:
- Hubspot is the best and most powerful system out there without question and is meant for growing businesses that are scaling past or already past $500K minimum in annual revenue.
- ActiveCampaign is a straightforward great system that integrates easily with eCommerce sites like Shopify.
- Keap (also known as Infusionsoft) is a great system for small companies that don't have complex eCommerce needs, typically authors, speakers, and contractors.
3.
Doing the integration between Dubb and your email client (such as Outlook, Office 365 or Gmail) is simple and straightforward. Here's how to add Dubb to Outlook 365:
- Log-in to your Microsoft 365 account. Navigate to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
- Once there, under "Settings", click "Add-ins". Then, click "Deploy Add-In". It'll guide you through and allow you to search for "Dubb". You can install it right from there.
Conversely, if you have Outlook as your email client. Simply click the Get Add-ins icon, search for "Dubb" and then click "install". That's it!
4.
Let's now do one more thing to make your life easier by adding the Dubb browser extension. I prefer Chrome so am going to show you how here but you are welcome to use your browsers.
- Download the Dubb web browser extension for Google Chrome by clicking this link.
- Once you install the extension, it will prompt for you to allow microphone and camera access. make sure to click "yes"/allow.
- Dubb will now be added as an extension in your browser. Find the icon in your browser and then log-in. Once you log-in, you'll always be logged in and can shoot videos from your browser.
5.
It's time to shoot your video (yeah, it really is this simple)! Now, if you installed the browser extension, this will be your best friend. If you haven't done that yet, don't fret. Just log-in to Dubb on your computer (or download their app here and shoot the video from your phone). I'm going to show you how to shoot the video using my favorite method which is the browser extension.
6.
You've shot your video. Now what? Now, my friends, we are going to use this video right into your email marketing platform. Here's how:
1. Using your marketing automation system (ie: Hubspot, ActiveCampaign, Keap), create an email.
2. Then, locate the video you just created and want to use inside the email and copy the GIF from the Dubb video you made and paste that code right into the email body area.
3. Next, grab the link to the video and insert the actual video link on top of the GIF image. This makes the GIF clickable and will take the user right to the video when they click on it inside the email.
That's it! Your video is now ready to be sent!
7.
The final step: Let's maximize your open rate and your click rate! I would now suggest adding in an emoji to your email subject line before you send that video! If you have Hubspot, that feature is built right in and easy to use. If you have a system like ActiveCampaign, Keap or, something else, use my free tutorial on how to add emojis to email subject lines by clicking this link.

Bonus Tutorial: Create and Send Videos In Your Emails Right from Outlook
Now that you have already installed Dubb and integrated like I showed you in the previous steps, you can easily create and send videos to your prospects and customers right from Outlook (or Gmail) effortlessly. Here's how:
- Create a new email inside Outlook.
- Using the Dubb extension in Outlook, simply select the video you want to use and click "Insert Video". That's it!
Dubb Integrations
If you're like me, you want things connected with the systems you use for effortless producitvity. Here's a link for what Dubb integrates with: https://dubb.com/integrations.
Of the systems, at the time of writing this, that they connect with, my favorite ones are:
- Chrome
- Outlook
- Gmail
- Slack
- Hubspot
- Infusionsoft
- Zapier
They also have a phone app and desktop app which makes creating videos super easy.
